FAP Ecuador

The raison d’être of Ecuador Protected Areas Fund is to support the conservation and sustainability of the country’s protected areas. It is an investment fund that finances actions to serve and protect the natural wealth of Ecuador, in coordination with country Government, Deutsche Zusammenarbeit and private donors such as Conservation International, Walton Family Foundation and the Global Environment Facility.

Hierarchies and institutionality

The Protected Areas Fund (FAP) initially requested the design of its main identifier. However, their main objective is positioning the labour carried out by FAP team among the general public, collaborative institutions and potential donors. As part of its communication framework is important point its belonging to FIAS Proyects and the direct kin with Environment Ministry of Ecuador.

Ecuador partner on conservancy

Although FAP has a lot of tasks, support protected areas conservancy is their purpose. Working on that purpose they must find the resources to give a hand to the most of people who works on conservancy and sustainability in Ecuador protected areas. This is the most important message we need to communicate in every possible way.

Protecting Wildlife & Culture with Passion

Through the process to define the essence of the brand, with multiple interviews with FAP team and park rangers in the protected areas, we arrived at the definition of the 4 pillars on which the institution bases its activities: biodiversity, ecosystems, culture and passion. These 4 pillars include all the elements that forms protected areas universe, both logistic and human.

GRAPHIC SYSTEM

The graphic system for FAP institutional brand is focused on highlighting the work of its team in favor of the environment, so it must be consistent with natural and sustainable values, graphic elements that represent biodiversity and ecology, legible typography, modern and authentic images that highlight the nature and work of the organization, simplicity and clarity, global projection with local values, adaptability to different formats and the inclusion of environmental certification or cobranding symbols, when necessary. The use of color, on the other hand, has the objective of differentiating our brand from the rest of the very similar identities in this sector, and to show our direct kin with Ecuador’s environmental authority.

COMMUNICATION DESIGN

It was not just about designing communication pieces, but about designing the communication plan itself. We propose a strategy that establishes 3 axes of communication aligned with the 3 basic objectives of the institution: positioning with the general public, with a specific audience of donors, collaborators and authorities, and educating about the natural wealth that we help protect.

AMBASSADORS LOOKS

In addition to all the presence that FAP’s identity must have at institutional level, the image of the brand ambassadors, the team that comprises it, which is present throughout the country and at all administrative levels, is of vital importance.

It is also important that the FAP’s membership and collaborative vocation with the institutions of which it is a part be transmitted, in addition to clearly indicating its character as an entity of national influence.
